Kevin Bisceglia is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Hofstra University. Prior to joining Hofstra, he founded the Chemistry Department at Bard High School Early College Queens, a satellite campus of Bard College that grants A.A. degrees to New York City public school students, and worked in the Chemical Sciences Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He holds a B.S. and M.E. in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College, an Advanced Certificate in Adolescent Education from Bard College, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University.

General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry/Instrumental Analysis, Active learning in STEM Education (e.g., POGIL, case studies and PBL, flipped classrooms)

Port Authority’s Youngest Female Engineering Leader Breaking Barriers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The youngest female engineering leader for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is breaking barriers at the agency.

Amanda Rogers, 39, is an engineer of construction for the Port Authority, overseeing a massive bridge rehabilitation program.

She manages all 11 construction projects for the “Restoring the George” program at the George Washington Bridge.

So what does she say to college students looking to take her job?

“Come and get it. There’s a ton of work out there,” she said. “It’s like the Frank Sinatra song. If you can build here, you can build it anywhere.”

When she does have free time, she says she loves to cheer on the Yankees and play golf.

When he re­tires this month from his vet­eri­nar­ian prac­tice, Dr. Brian Green will be con­clud­ing his long re­la­tion­ship with Sleepy Hol­low An­i­mal Hos­pi­tal. His in­volve­ment with the hos­pi­tal be­gan al­most 40 years ago; and he not only leaves a record of first-class treat­ment for thou­sands of an­i­mals, but also of nu­mer­ous con­tri­bu­tions to the com­mu­nity.

Dr. Green sold the vet­eri­nary hos­pi­tal to Dr. Pe­ter Ro­mano last July 1.

A na­tive of Westch­ester, born and raised in White Plains, Dr. Ro­mano re­ceived his Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence De­gree in Bi­ol­ogy from Man­hat­tan Col­lege, and his Doc­tor of Vet­eri­nary Med­i­cine De­gree from Cor­nell Uni­ver­sity in 2007. He in­terned at Long Is­land Vet­eri­nary Spe­cial­ists Re­fer­ral and Emer­gency Hos­pi­tal in Plain­view, New York, where he had ad­vanced train­ing in med­ical and sur­gi­cal care and has served as a vet­eri­nar­ian in Westch­ester. He now lives in Stam­ford with his wife, also a vet­eri­nar­ian, and his two young chil­dren.

CRANFORD – At the January 22, 2019 meeting of the Union County College Board of Trustees, Daryl Palmieri and General Edward J. Chrystal, Jr., both of Scotch Plains, were sworn in as Trustees. Union County College Board of Trustees Chair Victor M. Richel welcomed Mr. Palmieri and General Chrystal to the meeting and initiated their swearing in.

Mr. Palmieri has been a physical education teacher for 17 years and has served as head coach for the boys’ basketball team at Westfield High School since 2011.

He holds a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Kean University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College in physical education. At Manhattan College, he was a member of the men’s basketball team and Phi Epsilon Kappa National Honors Fraternity for Physical Education.
